| My
students are expected to try their hardest and participate in class.
We experience a variety of learning activities, including labs,
daily assignments, technical reading and note-taking, tests, quizzes, and
projects. Students have many
opportunities to work individually and in pairs, as well as in small
groups. Additionally, middle
school science teachers throughout the Issaquah School District are
committed to integrating technology into the science curriculum. My
classes will be using computers for lab write-ups, internet research, and
project development.
|
|
| My
goal is to provide a variety of activities and learning situations to meet
the needs of the different learning styles and abilities in my classes.
If students participate fully and work to their potential, they
will succeed in my class.

I have a “no late work” policy in my classes. I will not grade
work that comes in past the due date; however, I do encourage students to
complete the work and turn it in anyway. When late work is turned in, I
enter a “0” into the grade book. If a student has no missing
assignments in the grade book, he/she is eligible to turn in extra credit
work later in the trimester.
|
|
|
| Extra
credit can be earned at any time, provided all other work has been turned
in. To earn extra credit, simply watch science-related television. Take
notes on what you learn, and for every half-hour of programming, write a
one-paragraph summary to earn one extra credit point. For a one-hour show,
write two paragraphs for two points, etc. A student may also read
science-related magazine articles and write summary paragraphs. See me for
paragraph requirements for magazines. |
