Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year
at
In this class we
will explore Microsoft Frontpage and build websites,
we will use Photoshop Elements 4.0 to enhance graphics, we will learn how to
create effect presentations that look good and do not distract an audience and
much, much more! This is just a start…!
You will acquire all sorts of skills and knowledge along the way. The cool part is that what you learn can be
used in your other classes because we’ll be talking about the importance of
audience, being persuasive, creating a powerful presentation with important
content, etc.
The primary
responsibility of learning rests in the hands of each student in my class. Positive academic achievement depends on
solid communication and organization. It
is vital that you take the initiative and communicate with me if
questions or problems arise. Also,
becoming organized can take some time, but it will be critical to your
educational success today and throughout your life. Use your planner; write down all homework
assignments and project due dates; categorize your binder into different
subject areas – DO NOT shove papers
into your binder randomly. Turn your
work in on time!! And, keep all returned
work in a safe folder at home until the end of each trimester.
This class will
be filled with creativity, laughter and just plain, cool stuff. In the powerful
words of Ned Schneebly in

Late Work and Absences Policy
The late work
policy is as follows:
One day late- 25%
off
Two-four days
late- 50% off
Five days late- 0
credit
When absent, call
a buddy to get any information you might have missed in class. If you are absent
for more than a few days, call the office to request your homework. Check your
planner for school policies regarding absences. Major projects will have
established deadlines that must be met to receive full credit.
**Papers, documents and
projects with NO NAME will be given NO CREDIT**
Homework Policy
Much of the work
we will do will be in class. However,
there may be times where homework is assigned.
For the most part, if you don’t use your time wisely in class, you will
find yourself with homework.
Class Materials
Although the
majority of work you do will be on the computer, I do expect you to bring the
following to class every day:
Web Permissions
In order to use
the web (which will happen often), you and your parents must sign a Computer
Release form. You received this form on Taking Care of Business day. On the form,
your parents grant you permission to use the web. Some students may want to put
their picture on the website they create. This is fine as long as your parent’s
have granted your permission. You will not use your last name or post any
personal information.
**caveat-the
first web you make is about you. You will create pages about hobbies,
interests, etc. but it will be generic. For instance, you might talk about how
you love soccer and have a picture of a trophy and a soccer ball. Of course,
you will never post information such
as your address.
Classroom Rules
We will follow
PLMS school rules and computer lab rules at all times. These rules are listed
in your student planner. My one rule is: Make
choices that do not cause a problem for yourself or others. We’ll talk
specifics in class.
This is not a class where I allow you to
play computer games. Your Participation grade will go down quickly if you are
playing computer games, checking your personal email, surfing the web for
non-class related sites, etc. You can also receive minors and majors.

Our classroom
website has many useful features. The most useful part to you will be the
