Gators Eat up
Buckeyes
Ohio State took a beating at Championship Game
By Nellie Hoehl
The
Florida Gators came out with a major upset against the Ohio State Buckeyes in
last night’s big game. From the start of the game, it appeared that Ohio St. would take
home the win, but Florida
came back strong at the Tostitos BSC Championship Bowl.
The first quarter showed the
strength of both teams. On the opening kickoff, Ohio St.’s Ted Ginn Jr. sliced and diced 93
yards for a touchdown. Florida
still had plenty of time to come back, and they did! After a 7-play drive for a
touchdown, the Gators were able to take back control of the ball. Florida completed the quarter with a touchdown by Percy
Harvin to put Florida
up by 7 points.
At the opening of the second, the Buckeyes
became mad and started coming back when Antonio Pittman made an eighteen yard
run for a touchdown. Florida’s
DeShawn Wynn returned the favor with a 71 yd. drive and touchdown. Kicker Chris Hetland of the Gators then scored
six points of field goals in the third quarter, continued by another touchdown
for Florida,
putting them up by 20 points.
The
Florida Gators played a fantastic game, leaving with a final score of
41-14. Ohio St. was favored, yet didn’t show
their true greatness over another fantastic team, The Florida Gators.
