Guardian Angels

By Lauren Bruner

I don’t think people really die.

What if they come invisible to us?

Don’t they float up in the sky?

Or do they stay and search the globe?

Waiting up in the heavenly skies?

I don’t think people really die.

What if they always pass us by?

We can’t see them,

Blinded by our daily lives,

Unable to see them we try to follow some,

Made up explanation,

To help the time go by.

I don’t think people really die.

Like a ghostly spy,

Our loved ones watching us while the time goes by,

Looking over us as they did in life,

Waiting, waiting for them to help us on our trip,

All the way up to the heavenly skies.

Call them angels or call them ghosts,

I don't think people really die.

Waiting

Waiting like a caterpillar to become a butterfly,

Waiting for our father to finally come home,

Waiting for love to sweep us away,

Waiting for that one moment that we are not in pain,

Waiting to grow into an adult,

Waiting for the sun to shine,

Waiting for everyone to want to be us,

Waiting like a child praying for mom,

Waiting for the birds to chirp,

Waiting on the ones we love to show us they really care,

Waiting on a surgery that will save our life,

Waiting for the kind of shoe we want,

Waiting on the doctors to cure us,

Waiting to make the world a better place,

Waiting for the day we will live in peace.

Help Me

Help.

Help me with my life,

Guide me through the hard times,

Comfort me, stay with me,

Support me with your love,

Lend me a helping hand,

Relieve me of my stressful life,

Going through the time of my life,

Help me,

Please help me.

Hiss

Hiss.

Not a snake.

Hiss.

Not air forced through a hole.

Hiss.

Not a crowd hissing at a team.

Hiss.

Not steaming water.

Hiss.

Not a sound.

Hiss.

Neck.

Here & Gone

One day.

They are here today,

Gone tomorrow.

Always promising to fade away.

Never wanting to let go,

We hold on, tight.

When it’s gone we are overwhelmed with grief or bliss.

Praising or crying,

We know the next time it will be,

Here

&

Gone

Bend

Bending not breaking,

Holding our lives together,

Never letting go,

Entertainment,

Sorrow,

Bent into a shape,

We will never forget.

Shiny silver gold.

Bending not breaking.
