BEFRIENDING THE SKELETON
The truth has been revealed
By Josh
The
school bell rang loud and clear. For some it was like hearing the word summer
for the first time in their lives. It was the most glorious time of the day the
dismissal bell, one of mankind’s most esteemed achievements, summer break.
.
But Bryce Peterson wasn’t like most kids. He was unique, special and a
one-in-a million. He hated school just like everyone else, but you see Bryce
had a knack….. for making school a bit more…
interesting.
“Yo Bryce, you going to come through with our little plan?”
asked Andrew.
“Are you
kidding?”
Well, I
just thought that it could be a little mean you know?”
“Jeez,
well can’t you think of a couple mean
things Jimmy did to us over the years?”
“Well,
there was that time when he dropped those eggs on your head. And at camp while
you were asleep he made you think you had that rare skin disease.”
“See?”
said Bryce.
“Alright
I’m in!”
“Ok, meet me at the
“Yea,
I’ll be there!” replied Andrew
“You know
tomorrow is the last say of school.”
“That’s
why we waited all year to pull the perfect prank on Jimmy”
Bryce
wasn’t always such a bad kid. But it all started in 2nd grade when
he was forced to the dark side. The 5th grade hall, were the kids
were mean, the science lab was reen and the teachers
were ever so keen and caught your every mistake. Then he ran into the meanest
kid in school, Caleb. Fate took it’s turn
on that unfortunate day, Caleb took his Social Studies book and put it in
the schools official Cremator were unfinished work was discarded.. He was
charged 60$ for that dumb book. After
paying up he realized that with the power of the dark side he could achieve
anything his heart desires!!!!
Bryce’s
watch woke him up at 3:00 AM and he hurried over to the stone hill cemetery,
where he was soon greeted by his best friend Andrew.
“Hey,
grab that shovel and let’s head up there. I already picked out a grave a couple
of days ago.”
“Alright,
whatever you say.” replied Andrew.
Bryce
walked over to the gravestone, picked it up off the ground and read it out loud
to himself.
“Mortimer
Sharf,
lost but not Forgotten.”
Well, he
certainly won’t be forgotten!”
“Quick,
dig up the head and get out of here! This place gives me the creeps!”
The next day of school was the last day of school before
the kids were finally set free. Everything was set. Bryce and Andrew had
arrived early so they could put the gravestone and severed head in Jimmy’s
desk. The moment had come. Mr. EZ had asked the children to get those accursed
Day Books. Jimmy was reaching into his desk……He looked inside, screamed and
jumped out of his seat. The three or four students that were unlucky enough to
sit by him were almost obliterated by his massive weight
“Yesssss!!!!” screamed Bryce and Andrew in unison. They had just pulled
the greatest prank of all time!
“That was
great!” said Andrew
They were
walking down the hall back from there social studies class. Jimmy came up to them
and started yelling at them for putting the gravestone in his desk.
“Wait,
are you sure there was only a gravestone in there?”
“Yea,
wasn’t there supposed to be a skeleton head too?”
“I was
sure I had put it in there!”
“Well, if
the head wasn’t in there then were is it....
He was
interrupted by screams and shouts of terror. As he turned to face the commotion
he saw someone or something walking down the hall towards him. He was wearing a
red Phillies hat with a leather jacket and pair
ripped jeans.
“Hey it
isn’t cool to disturb people when there sleeping!”
Bryce
realized that the person was talking to him and he was looking up to see who it
was. But of course nothing in Bryce’s life had ever been en normal and this was
no exception. Because what Bryce saw next was awe
striking and a quite creepy. Because under the leather jacket and the baseball
cap, was a complete human skeleton. The skeleton had no flesh or any of its
organs.
“Well are
you just going to stand there or are you gonna help
me?”
“Bryce
didn’t know what to say he was some-what petrified by the being standing before
him.”
“Well
what exactly do you need.” muttered Bryce.
“I don’t
need anything I like this place much better than
“Fine but
could you just give me a break and leave me alone?”
“I wish I
could, but you were the one who dug me up so if you want me gone you
are going to have to find a way to get rid of me.”
“Are you
telling me that if I don’t get rid of you you’re going to keep bothering me?”
“Pretty
much,” Replied the skeleton as he was trying to trip people walking down the
hall.
Bryce
knew that he had to get rid of this thing
before it caused a whole lot of trouble. He was trying to think of a way to
do it when he was interrupted by that obnoxious voice.
“Lets get
out of here this place is weird.”
“It’s
called school… well at least we have one thing in common.”
“I guess
so.”
“What are
you doing?!”
“I’m
trying to get in this door.”
You can’t
do that!”
“Why?”
“Never
mind lets just get out of here so that I can get you out of my life.”
“Well if
you really want to get rid of me you should take me back to my coffin and
rebury me.”
Bryce and
the skeleton were well on their way but were interrupted at the front doors by
none other than Caleb.
“You can’t
leave until you pay exit fee!”
“I don’t
have any money on me right now.”
“Well
that’s just too bad, dirt bag!”
“We used
to beat people up for saying things like that.” said Mortimer.
“Let me
handle this.”
A series
of very painful events followed as Mortimer unleashed his awesomeness.
“All
right lets get out of here” exclaimed Bryce.
When they
came to the stone hill gates they were faced with yet another challenge.
Someone had locked the gates and put barbed wire on them plus for an added
bonus they tied rotweilers to the gates. For some
unknown reason the dogs were suspiciously eying Mortimer…
“Well there’s only one thing you can do in a
time like this rebel!” screamed
Mortimer.
Mortimer
courageously jumped the fence then pulled off his left arm. While pretending to
be Tom Brady threw a glorious pass with his right arm.
“Ha
those stupid puppies took the bait!” said Mortimer.
“To
the coffin!” yelled Bryce
When
they reached the coffin Mortimer laid down and in his coffin and before closing the
lid said.
“Remember
Bryce always you must always rebel!”
And
with that he was gone forever…….
The
next couple of days of Bryce was in a very bad mood.
He had come to befriend the skeleton. And now that he was gone Bryce felt
worse.
“Is
it true that you ditched school yesterday.” Asked
Andrew
“Yea,
but don’t tell any one I’ll be in major trouble.”
“Alright,
so I guess I’ll see you tonight at the party?”
“All
be there.”
And
with that Andrew walked off satisfied with Bryce’s answer. But Bryce was alone
again and deeply missed his knew friend.
“Hey
why are you so sad?” said a familiar voice.
Bryce
recognized it immediately and was filled with joy. Because know that the
skeleton was back they could have some real fun together.
“Why
did you come back?” asked Bryce
“It
was boring trying to go back so I thought it would be more fun to come back
here and hang out with you.” Replied the skeleton
“Hey
you never told me your name.”
“It’s
Mortimer but you can call me Sharf.”
“I
can’t do anything I’ve got to be somewhere.”
“Don’t
worry I got something planned that’s probably more fun than anything you could think of!”
