Please let me know if you have any
problems I can help with.
I try very hard to make science interesting
and exciting to learn about.
Your homework/project grade shows how
well you are organized and the effort you are giving.
Most homework assignments are worth 10
points.
Homework will not be collected until
the due date.
Some homework assignments are graded
for accuracy of answers, some are graded for completion and some will not be
graded at all.
During the first trimester you may turn in two
late assignments for full credit. During
the second trimester you may turn in one late assignment for full credit. During the third trimester you may not turn
in any late assignment for full credit.
We will have a few small projects throughout the
year.
If a project is turned in late 20%
will be taken off each day it is late up to 50%, unless you make
prearrangements with the teacher before the project is due.
Your test/quiz grade shows how well
you understand the material.
Tests are normally worth 30 points and
quizzes are worth between 10-15 points.
If you receive a grade of less than
70% you may correct all of the answers you missed and turn it back in for
partial credit up to a 70%.
Talking or otherwise causing a
distraction during a testing time may result in a loss of 50% of the points
earned on that particular test or quiz.
Your lab grade shows how well you stay
focused during in-class work time.
Labs are usually worth 10 points.
If a lab is missed it may be excused
depending on the amount of preparation for set-up. If you are excused from a lab it will not
count toward your grade or against your grade.
If a student is not focused or not
practicing safe lab behavior he/she will receive a warning signified by the
teacher writing a “W” on his/her paper.
If the behavior continues the student will lose 2 points every time the
teacher gives a warning.
Late labs may be turned in for half
credit.
Each trimester you may complete one
extra credit assignment worth 5 points.
A few points of extra credit may be earned
through various assignments or assessments.
Extra credit will only count toward your final
trimester grade if all assignments are completed, even if you did not receive
credit for all assignments.
For more information see the extra credit page.
If you are absent you have as many
days to make up your work as you missed.
When you turn in your work upon return
please write the dates you were absent on the top of the assignment.
Students may use materials from the
“student resource area” if needed.
There are magazines for your reading
pleasure to be used at appropriate times.
Please be sure to return all borrowed
materials at the end of class.
The Homework Calendar is located above
the student resource area and, if used, will help you stay focused and
organized.
Other information important for
students will also be posted in this area.
The homework tray with your class
period labeled is to be used for current assignments on the date they are
due.
The Late Work/Extra Credit
homework tray is to be used for absent work, late work, extra credit,
correction of tests, no names, or any work that is not a current assignment.
Failure to follow the above procedures
may result in missing assignments. It is
your responsibility to make sure the correct assignment is placed in the
correct tray.
Please use the paper recycling when
disposing of clean and dry paper.
Please respect the privacy of the
teacher and other students by keeping in mind the teacher’s desk is off limits
without permission.
Be prepared for class when it
begins. (Be in your seat with materials
ready.)
Take responsibility for your own
actions. (Demonstrate self-control.)
Respect yourself. (Perform to the best of your ability to
achieve success.)
Respect others. (Build others up and help them, avoid insults
and criticism.)
Respect your environment. (Ex: the fish, tables, chairs, books,
computers, etc.)
Food, drink and gum are not permitted
in the classroom.
Please ask permission to use the
restroom.
If permission is granted sign your
name and time you leave as you exit.
Write down the time you return in the
“sign in” box.
If this privilege is abused it will be
taken away on a per student basis.
Consequences can be good as well as
bad.
I give out more pride awards than I do
minors.
Hard work will yield a good grade.
Failure to follow the expectations by
the school or teacher will result in negative consequences.
Tardies will
result in isolated lunch unless you gain permission from the
teacher first.
Actions such as sleeping, gum chewing,
eating food, causing distractions, passing notes, writing on desks and
textbooks, or other activities similar to these will result in a minor
infraction.
Actions such as disrespect to a
substitute teacher, forgery, plagiarism, copying, or hurtful disrespect to another
individual, or other activities similar to these will result in a major
infraction.
Three minor infractions of any sort
will result in a major infraction.
The student handbook has more
information on this subject.
Be a proud and successful Wolverine and have a great year!
