Goals:  As coaches, we feel goals are very important. If realistically set, they not only help you measure improvement, but act as a motivator as well.

As coaches, our goals are:

¨      To prepare you mentally and physically to compete in meets.

¨      To bring out your best, and help you improve as much as possible.

¨      Run a quality program & maintain Pine Lake’s strong track tradition.

¨      Total team participation.

 

As athletes, we encourage you to set personal goals:

This is up to you to realistically decide on.

¨      Give 100% in effort and attitude?

¨      Make it to finals?

¨      Set a school record?

¨      Have fun?

Who can participate?

Any PLMS student can join. There are no cuts. Even if you are not the fastest runner, you are still part of the team and will compete.

bulletHow many people try out for track?
bulletAbout one third of the school tries out for track which is about 300 students.
bulletIf it rains, will it affect the meets or practices?
bulletNo, we just get wet. You just go out there and run. Meets are delayed if there is lightning.
bulletWho are the coaches?

 

bulletWe have 10 awesome coaches.  All of them are Pine Lake staff.
bulletHow long do the meets usually last?
bulletMeets typically  run from 3:00 pm- 7:30pm.

What equipment do we need for track?

bulletClothes to work out in, running shoes, sweats, windbreaker, water bottle,  and spikes if you want them.

What are some things I need to do to succeed in track?

bulletYou need to stretch at home, get a good nights sleep, drink a lot of water (NO POP!), run at home on weekends, eat healthy, always do a cool down lap, and have fun!

Do I need to be at every practice?

bulletIt is important for you to be at every practice for your assigned grade level.
